Given all the uncertainty in this fanless, COVID NFL season, our record of 14-7 through week 6 feels pretty darn good. We were 2 points away from going 4-0 last week, but the Giants, as they do, could only win by 1 (and lost by 1 this past Thursday). Here are this weeks winners.
Dallas Cowboys @ Washington Football Team -1: The 2-4 Dallas Cowboys look to keep pace in a complete dumpster fire of a division that is the NFC East. This match has the worst Defense in the NFC (218 points allowed 36.3 PPG) vs the NFC‘s worst offence (108 points scored..18 PPG). Washington will dial up a heavy pass rush, but we think the Cowboys are just better at all the skill positions, with Elliot, Cooper, and rookie CeeDee Lamb. Even veteran QB Andy Dalton holds an advantage over Kyle Allen. This one could be (ok, it will be) ugly, so go with the team that can actually score points.
PICK: Cowboys -1
Detroit Lions @ Atlanta Falcons O/U 54.5: The Atlanta Falcons have allowed 30 or more points in their first 4 weeks (38-40-30-30) before holding the Panthers to 16 and the Vikings to 23. Both those teams have sputtering offenses and got horrible QB play. The Lions and Matthew Stafford have struggled a bit on offence as well this season, but their 3 losses came to the Packers, Bears and Saints who are a combined 12-4. They also had a strong win over the Cardinals in week 3 and a convincing win (34-16) vs Jacksonville last week. Look for an aerial assault in this one, with Ryan and Stafford both easily going over 300 passing yards.
PICK: OVER 54.5
Green Bay Packers -3.5 @ Houston Texans: The Packers lost their first game of the season with a blowout loss to Tampa Bay 38-10 last week. Rodgers went 16 for 36 for 160 yards 0 TDs and 2 INTs in the loss. Prior to that he had thrown 13 TDs and 0 INTs this season. The Texans have one game all season..a 30-14 win over the Jaguars in week 5. While it is true the Texans have had a brutal schedule (losses to KC, Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Tennessee) things don’t get better with an angry Packers/Aaron Rodgers coming to town. Texans can’t wait to get to the bye week (week 8) and play the Jags again in week 10.
PICK: Packers -3.5
Good luck with all your bets this week, and enjoy your Sunday!
