Racing is finally opening up all over the country. Gulfstream Park is still racing, but will now fight competition from Charles Town in West Virginia, Golden Gates in California. And more importantly Santa Anita will start tomorrow.
Today our main idea is 5 Pechanga (Camelot) in race 6 at Gulfstream Park. The breeding screams out for extra distance and today she will get it. She is a steal at 15/1 on the Morning Line but you can actually get that odds with English bookmakers. 10 Fresco (Freud) will be the (too) heavy favorite.
At 7 we will be racing at Charles Town. We will be focusing on the early Pick 4 going from race 2 to race 5.
A low level sprint over 4 1/2 furlongs. The lead will be crucial and I think there is a case to be made for the outside horses. 1 Windsor Calling is fast but not very good in the finish. 5 Not A Trick is way classier but won’t be able to get the lead from 8 Rock On. 9 Lucky Ned Pepper can benefit from being drawn next to Rock On and will likely get a perfect postition stalking the pace.
B: 8 C: 5,9,1
A poor maiden claimer over the short distance. We have spotted a potential value horse in 5 Antagonizer. Shipping in from Laurel he has shown some pace in much better company. Over this trip there’s nothing to wait for. Just bomb and hold on. 6 Ready To Charm is a Verazzano filly shipping in and dropping in class. Won’t be far from it at the finish line. 4 Just Go With It should have a race like this in him and with one of the leading riders aboard he will go close.
A: 5 B: 6,4,1 C: 2,7,8,3
This is a beaten claimer 5-4.5K over 1 1/16 miles. There is a clear standout in the race as 2 Caladan is too good for this class. He knows where the finish line is and has no problem with the distance. 3 Schlosser will try to go wire to wire and # 1,4,5,7 and 10 have had their fair share of wins at this track. Don’t forget about old New Yorker 6 Poshsky who might just be too good for these.
A: 2 B: 3,6 C:1,4,5,7,10
This race will be quickly over and the history books won’t be able to record it. 2 Thesweetesttaboo is not only a song by the lovely Sade but a horse bidding for win four in a row. She is beautifully drawn and has a lot of pace. Good favorite. She is worse off at the weights with 3 Vonda but she might find the distance too sharp today. 1 Sniff has got a good draw but doesn’t need to lead. Outsider. 8 Backcat has pace and should be in the mix. 9 Im A Tricky One is capable of winning a race like this.
B: 2 C: 8,3,1,9
We will play this with a couple of conditions.
- No C horses
- 1 A horse, no more than 1 C horse.
This will be 27 dollars if you play for 50 cents. It should be seven different betting slips.
